Start on the living-room TV

Most Finnish living rooms need one player the whole house can use. That is IBO Player. It is the same default as the Denmark guide for a mixed apartment: Android TV or a Fire Stick on the main set, a Samsung or LG in the bedroom, and a phone in the kitchen. Finnish titles and Swedish tracks have to stay readable in the same list. IBO Player does that without a second app for the Swedish row.

Duplex TV is the better living-room pick when the TV is an older Samsung or LG, or when someone in the house lives in the programme guide. The Finland guide treats catch-up as a first-class habit, including Elisa Viihde-shaped libraries when a provider actually exposes them. Duplex TV is the app on this site that keeps that guide on the big screen.

ABE Player is the Nordic household pick we already document in the ABE Player Sweden setup. Use it when you want a simple daily driver and you already know the Sweden flow. It is a weak only-app if the lounge TV is a Samsung or LG that wants a Smart TV build. Install IBO Player or Duplex TV there, then keep ABE Player on a phone if that is the screen you already set up.

What Telia, Elisa, and DNA change at home

Fibre in Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku is why HD IPTV is ordinary in Finnish cities. The player does not fix a congested stairwell switch or a DNS fight with the ISP's own TV product. Ethernet to the box still beats a larger buffer.

Telia. Leave the buffer where the player put it on Telia fibre. Startup delays are usually DNS. Telia's own TV service can hold onto resolver answers that a third-party playlist does not need. Set Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 or Google 8.8.8.8, then retry. Sonera on the bill is still Telia. Treat it as the same network.

Elisa. Elisa fibre is fine for live rows. The extra work is catch-up. Elisa Viihde is a separate session. If the live playlist plays and catch-up stays locked, that is a provider token, not a broken IBO install. The Finland guide already says to ask the provider before you reinstall the app. Do not chase a second XMLTV file for a VOD library that never arrived.

DNA. DNA fibre and VDSL cover a lot of southern and central Finland. Some apartment buildings still do multicast for the ISP's own TV. Your IPTV player is unicast. Those are not the same path. Evening freezes on DNA are often a server-region problem. Ask the provider whether they have a host that sits on DNA before you raise the buffer again. Rural VDSL in Lapland or Kainuu is the other case. 1080p can wait. 720p and a larger buffer are the honest settings under 30 Mbps.

Prove the playlist, then fix the guide

Do not start with a 10,000-row Europe bundle. Pin Yle TV1, Yle TV2, MTV3, and Nelonen. If those four play, the subscription is usable. Sub, Jim, and the Swedish-language tracks can wait. The Finland guide is the place for that channel map, including the Elisa Viihde catch-up cases a player cannot invent.

This hub will not invent a Yle XMLTV ID table. Those tokens are not published on this site. If Yle TV1 shows last night's film after a "successful" refresh, the file loaded and the row is bound to the wrong id. That is a matching problem.

The XMLTV ID hub walks through how IBO Player, MAT Player, and Duplex TV attach an id to a row. The public stacks there are SRF, ERT, VRT, and SVT. SVT is the one that belongs in a Finnish house that also watches Swedish public TV. The bind is the same work on Yle TV1. Search the XML for the id, not the pretty name. Auto-match still grabs "Yle TV1 HD" and leaves the row you watch empty. If the whole grid is blank, you do not have an ID problem yet. Fix the URL and the refresh first. The EPG setup guide covers that step.

Set the player to UTF-8 before you decide Finnish titles are broken. Boxes on Yle Uutiset, or missing ä, ö, and å, are encoding, not a bad playlist. Swedish audio on a Finnish row is a track pick, not a second playlist.
